Annexation Will Destroy Prime Farmland

ANNEXATION WILL CAUSE MORE TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK

The City of Vista recently annexed 16 acres on Vista Grande Drive (#25 on the map).  GuARD and the Bonsall Sponsor Group opposed the annexation, but unfortunately our efforts were unsuccessful.  The annexation has opened the door for a second annexation–a whopping 300 acres of prime farmland known locally as Strawberry Hill (#41 on the map).  In order to develop the Strawberry Hill farm, the owner needs to annex into the city, and that can now be done because the farmland borders the city at the Vista Grande Drive property.

GuARD strongly opposes the annexation because of the loss of prime farmland and loss of county control of our semi-rural area.  The City of Vista is concerned with grabbing as much land as possible to urbanize our area and gain tax revenue.  The integrity of our local neighborhood is not of interest to the city.  GuARD strongly advocates for keeping our area under the San Diego County General Plan land use designations, which supports the semi-rural character of the community, and limits sprawl development.

To view all of Vista’s proposed development projects and annexations, look at the City of Vista Development Projects Map.

More Development = More Gridlock on East Vista Way

CITY COUNCIL ADDS MORE DEVELOPMENT TO OVERBURDENED EAST VISTA WAY

Look at how many housing units are pending in the City of Vista.  Almost 700 new condos/homes along East Vista Way, plus retail projects as well.

The City Council has known about the serious gridlock for years and has done absolutely nothing.  Now they are approving developments to add even more cars to the road.  Not only are drivers stuck, air pollution increased, and time lost, but people’s lives are at stake because emergency response times are as long as 8 minutes during rush hour.

The City Council knows this, but they vote for more development anyway.  Firemen have told us that 6 minutes is the magic number–if EMTs don’t get there by then,  some people who could have been saved will die.  Will people have to start dying before the Vista City Council does something?
